The Box
All the Stuff in the Box
The Product Card-What's in the Box
Roasted Seaweed from Seaweed Love
.18 oz - Value $2.08
Harvested at the peak of the season, seaweed is roasted to perfection, drizzled with rich (but healthy) oil, and sprinkled with natural sea salt for a savory treat.
These reminded me of being at the seashore. They taste a little fishy and salty. The kids did not like them at all and actually spit them out but me and my Mom enjoyed them. The crisps are very thin, almost see through. Available online in 12 packs at Love with Food.
Coconut & Mango Fruit Ice from Smooze
Value: $2.17
To enjoy this luscious push-pop, simply freeze, nip the top, and slurp!
We can't try this one yet because it needs to freeze. Available in 6 packs online at Love with Food.
Gluten-Free Pineapple Coconut Cereal Bar from Do More Bars
1.23 oz - Value $1.50
Like the crispy rice cereal treats from your childhood but with the gourmet sophistication of organic brown rice and real fruit.
Yummy! This tastes like a rice crispy treat but with a hint of coconut and pineapple! Available in 12 packs on lovewithfood.com.
Organic Fruity Bears from Surf Sweets
.5 oz. - Value $.54
Mouthwatering organic fruit juice makes these gummy bears irresistible fun!
Delicious! Both of my DD's who are 6 & 7 loved them... Except for the lemon flavor...but no one ever likes lemon! Why do any companies even bother adding lemon to candy bags??? They really do taste just like sweet candy, you would never know they are gluten free & good for you! Awesome! :) ♥ Available at Love with Food in a variety 9 pack.
Sweet Plantain Chips from Turbana
1.05 oz - Value $.45
Similar to banana chips, plantains are freshly harvested to make these crispy bites with a touch of sweetness.
These were interesting, I have never tried plantain before. It kind of tasted like banana chips but with a twist. My DDs liked them as well. :) I could definitely munch on these instead of potato chips.
Mango Coconut All Natural Fruit & Soy Bar from Soy Joy
1.05 oz - Value $1.11
Each Gluten-free bar is is simply baked with real ingredients, packing tropical goodness in every bite.
This was not up my alley. One of my DD's loved it and the other hated it and spit it out. My DD that did not like it did not like the big coconut shreds. It reminded me of fruit cake but drier. I have never liked anything soy though so if you like soy this may be your thing!
Pomegranate Mint Chewing Gum from PUR Gum
9 pieces - Value $1.11
Value $1.11
Naturally Sweetened, the cool sensation of mint is fused with pomegranate in the refreshing gum.
I normally do not like anything pomegranate so it is no surprise that I am not a huge fan of this gum but it is ok and I will eat it.
Organic Hard Candy from GoOrganic
2 pieces - Value $.50
Certified organic, these handmade confections get their fruity colors and flavors the natural way.
I tried the Organic Blood Orange flavored candy and it was tasty. I'll take the other to work for a desk snack tomorrow... my DD's aren't getting this one! :)
Organic Drink Mix from Flavrz
1 oz - Value $1.12
Simply add water to enjoy this refreshing sip of organic fruit juices.
2 SOYJOY Coupons
1 Buy 3 get 1 Soyjoy single bar free & $1/1 Soyjoy bar (but I didn't like the SOYJOY bar :()
Food & Wine Magazine Discount
$12 for a 1 year subscription & on the back there is a cocktail recipe called Beach Trip. It is a nice recipe card.
$50 Naked Wines Gift Card
Value $40
I only gave it a value of $40 because they will not let you use the gift card on the $9.99 shipping charges. Also, I live in PA and they cannot ship to PA so this is an inconvenience. I was thinking about purchasing another $50 gift card online to get the $100 mark so I would get free shipping but then I read the find print on the back of the card that states "limit one per customer". I really dislike all of the restrictions on this card. I am honestly not sure if I am going to keep this card or sell it on eBay for $10 (that is all they are going for).
Update 6/16/13: I must say that I am now DISGUSTED with this useless gift card and I will not include it in the total AT ALL!! I went online to redeem this card and they make you buy a MINIMUM of 6 bottles and the cheapest bottle is $12.49. This means that the MINIMUM that you would need to spend to use this "gift card" is $34.93!!! That is not a Gift Card IMO. They should call this $50 off of a 6 bottle purchase or $50 off of a $75 purchase but NOT a gift card!!! Granted if you are a wino, I suppose purchasing 6 bottles of wine for $5.82 a pc is a good deal but still NOT a gift card. My final advice to nakedwine.com, don't call it a gift card if isn't a gift card! Ah, I feel better now.
My Final Thoughts
This was my first official subscription box review!
The total value of the box without the gift card is $10.58. The regular cost of the box is $12 so I would have liked to see food samples totaling up to at least $12. Luckily, I only paid $2 because I used the promo code mentioned above but I think I would have been a little disappointed if I had paid the full $12. Don't get me wrong, I love wine, but I don't love a gift card with a crap load of restrictions!! If I get a gift card I want a REAL gift card!
Update 6/13/13: Since Love With Food could not reach the $12 mark without including this useless, so-called $12 gift card, I will be cancelling my monthly subscription to love with food... It's just not worth it! And that is my final say. So for $2 get it, then cancel.
What do you think of Love with Food? I hope you enjoy the promo code! ;)

I got the July "Love With Food" box. I was not impressed, I canceled it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you got it for $2... Did they at least reach the $12 mark this month?
ReplyDeleteI got a small bag of hawaiian salted carmel popcorn (made in seattle :/), a teeny bbq beef stick from vermont some and cure (we are talking 1/2 the size of a SMALL slim jim) An airline sized bag of spicy bloody mary peanuts from lord nut levington as well as a 50 cent coupon for a full size can (where ever you can buy those). Two individual peices of orange saltwater taffy from Angel Mint, and 4 sample packets of flavor salt from twangers (and an advertisement for their website). A packet with two Hard Sourdough pretzels in it, A strawberry fig bar that says non gmo twice on it, and a halloween fun sized candy roll of necco wafers. I'm going on a wild guess saying this didn't hit the 12 dollar mark either.
ReplyDeleteYea... They just aren't one of the best food subs out there in the natural food category! If you do like this kind of stuff I would suggest Conscious Box or NatureBox... Both are better!! Conscious Box is almost identical but they send more than just food and it is a better value for your $$$! Conscious has a promo right now where you can try your first box free!!! Klutchclub is another one with great value! I haven't completed the review for that one yet but you can view that one and all of the other sub boxes with promo codes right now here:
